One of us loves building from scratch. The other thinks we waste far too much time reinventing the wheel. At Pragma Conference 2019 Matteo Rattotti and I argued it out on stage.

We went through the many shiny things a developer can build instead of shipping, the cases where rolling your own actually pays off, and the ones where it quietly eats a year. The title is the conclusion: keep it simple, so you can complicate it later.
